Jovia and Beyond the Infinite: Comparing Starslip and the Latest Bioshock

Warning! This post contains many spoilers for both Starslip and Bioshock Infinite. Proceed at your own peril.

I finished Bioshock Infinite a week ago. I’ve spent a long chunk of my life — perhaps by now most of it — thinking about many of the story ideas contained in the game. It’s structured like Bioshock: what looks like an odd alternate history shooter ends up being a treatise on the failure of some blind devotion to a radical ideology.

Starslip at Emerald City Comicon!

Emerald City Comicon is March 1-3, 2013 in Seattle — right around the corner. Here’s a helpful graphic showing off some of the goods I’ll have at booth 1107!

I will have the entire run of Starslip — books 1 through 5 and the Companion, plus the patches. Plus some great stuff from my other strips, including Broodhollow!

Also, on Friday night, my comrades-in-arms Scott Kurtz, Brad Guigar and Dave Kellett and myself will be reuniting for a live edition of Webcomics Weekly at ECCC:

Jinxlet Auctions Now Up on eBay

Coinciding with this storyline in 2007 was the arrival of the Jinxlet plushes. 1,000 were made, and over the next three years, 1,000 were sold, never to be made again. In 2011, I found a handful of Jinxlets and again put them on sale. They ran out almost immediately. I had believed that was the end of that. However, weeks ago, at my parents’ house, my mother found 18 more Jinxlets and their adoption papers safely stored in a suitcase.

On eBay right now, I am offering 7 of these last 18 Jinxlets. These auctions end Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1AM. Each of the 7 auctions includes:

  • One (1) 10″ Jinxlet collectible plush from the long-running sci-fi webcomic Starslip.
  • One (1) Jinxlet Adoption Certificate specifying the name of the Jinxlet
  • One (1) Care and Feeding Instruction Sheet from Ganymede Zoological Society
  • One (1) letter from Memnon Vanderbeam
  • Two (2) out-of-print Jinxlet Valentine cards
  • One (1) copy of How The Jinxlets Saved The Space Zoo, a 34-page B&W coloring book

Starslip at Penny Arcade Expo

Hey guys, as you may know, I’m once again showing at PAX in Seattle this weekend. Passes to the show sold out long ago, so if you’re going, you’ve known you’re going for a while!

I will be exhibiting in Bandland with Scott Kurtz again, and I have every expectation I will have Starslip Book 5 available, along with the other four books. I will also have The Starslip Companion available. The books, along with a special five-book pack, will debut in my store sometime this week and ship next week. Watch this space! If you follow me on any of my sites, there’s no way you will miss the announcement.
